Periodontal therapy is a series of multiple appointments with the hygienist (ranging from 2- 6 visits). Dental instruments are used to remove calculus both above and below the gum line. In some cases a local anesthetic is used to help in sensitive areas. A periodontal exam is used to establish a baseline and is updated periodically to chart your progress. Oral hygiene instruction is reviewed / monitored. Oral irrigation may be suggested to aid in the healing process.
